A newly constructed, $258 million dollar international airport terminal, opened its doors in June of 2014. Designed by OMB – Office of Mcfarlane Biggar Architects and Ledcor Construction serving as general contractor, this new airport for the city of Fort McMurray has become the premiere gateway for this distinct region in Canada. The terminal is part of a larger expansion to the airport, in response to the tremendous growth of the region. Working alongside NR Windows, the building utilizes pre-weathered steel panels for both interior and exterior applications. Winning the 2013 Canadian Architect’s Award of Excellence, the building uses simple means to generate an iconic and memorable presence in the landscape.
