Named for its adherent iron oxides, Goethite Steel is our pre-oxidized weathering steel product that provides owners, architects and designers with a range of resonant tones on an enduring surface.
Utilizing leading edge science regarding corrosion and protection, our steel patina provides both distinction and durability. Produced by accelerating and managing the natural weathering process until a stabilized oxide layer develops, our authentic distressed surface brings an aged, rustic character to your project. Starting with fabricated weathering steel (corten), we apply a proprietary acid initiation solution to accelerate the corrosion process and to produce specific adherent rust products (namely nano-phased goethite). Once initiation has taken root, we naturally mature the metal until a beautiful patina has emerged and run-off has largely subsided.
Our Goethite Steel product is fabricated and aged to best suit its application needs, including creating one-of-a-kind patinas that are tailored around your unique application. Our approach looks at the most streamlined process from conception to installation. As material suppliers of pre-fabricated speciality metal, it is important for us to make delivery and installation as simple as possible, which reduces field-labor exposure and overall costs for your project.
